How to use XMGrace
- Step 1: Start up
- Start up XMGrace.
- Make a data file. (XMGrace recognizes *.dat as the default file.)
- In the tool bar, click "Data" → "Import" → "ASCII."
Then, select the data file you want to plot. Click "OK" only one time, then click "Cancel."
- Step 2: Edit the plot
- Click "Plot" in the toolbar → "Set Appearance" → then select the data set.
- In "Main" tab, look at "Symbol properties" for the shape of data points, such as circle.
The "Line properties" can be straight or stair. The "Legend" part → the name for plot.
- Click "Plot" in the toolbar → Select the "Axis Properties" for the titles and ranges of
x- and y-axes (in "Axis label & Bar" tab → in "Bar properties", the width can be changed.)
- Step 3: Calculate
- Click "Data" in the toolbar → select "Transformation" to obtain regression, etc.
- Step 4: Output
- Save the file as *.agr, which is for XMGrace.
- To generate a picture file, go to "Print setup" → "Device" → "EPS"
and write the file name.
- Then, goto "Print." (The picture file can be found in your Home directory.)
