Grid

The grid is not appeared as default. You can set the grids for major tics.
gnuplot> set grid
gnuplot> plot atan(x)
gnuplot hirophysics
The command "set grid" can have grids for even minor tics. For example,
gnuplot> set mxtics 5
gnuplot> set mytics 5
gnuplot> set grid mxtics mytics
gnuplot> plot cos(x)
gnuplot hirophysics
The first two commands are to set minor tics. The instruction is here. Then, the command, "set grid mxtics mytics", makes grids for minor tics.
